In the early 1990's Flirts fashions set up the DOS version of the program because of the combination of point-of-sale, stock control and customer tracking. Three owners later, the store is still thriving, and the software is still growing. Jennifer took the plunge late last year and installed the Windows version. She took the opportunity to set up bar code scanning and bar code printing to make sales easier and quicker to process. "I have been using the software for a number of years, the transition for old to new was relatively painless."
This store is operates with
two very distinct seasons.

The objective of analysing the stock control is to have as little left at the end of the season as possible. Any stock left at the end of the season is of no use carried over to the following year, and eats directly from the profits of that season. By tracking the fashions for the following year and comparing that with the sales for the product groups that have occurred over the past season, Jennifer is able to accurately place indent orders for the following year. Because almost all of the purchasing is done on indent, the stock cards are set up at the time the orders have been placed.

As the orders are received, the orders are converted into suppliers invoices in the creditors system. "Now that the new system is in place, we are looking at adding new features into the program." Flirts have always made direct promotions to its customer base via mail outs. With the new program, we now have new features to assist with this marketing, including email promotions.
